Welcome to the Youth on Root General Audience Privacy Policy. When you visit our website, attend our events, view our content, or contact us (collectively, the “Services”), we may collect information from or about you. Last Updated: October 10, 2021

INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU.

We collect information from and about you in connection with your use of the Services.   • Registration Information. When you register for certain Services, complete an application form, attend one of our events, participate in a promotion, or respond to surveys that we sponsor, we may collect the information you provide, such as your name and email address.

  • Billing and Payment Information. When you donate to us, we collect certain payment and identity verification information, including your name, email address, physical address, and credit card information.

  • Information You Post on Our Services. We may collect information when you post comments or other content to our Services, which may include a username or screenname, comments, likes, interests, status, pictures, and references to your online presence.

  • Your Correspondence and Your Feedback about Our Services. We collect information you provide when you contact us directly or provide feedback, comments, or suggestions on our Services directly to us.

  • Information You Provide Offline. You may also provide information to us in person and offline. You may be recorded if you attend an event, and information may be collected via your application to participate in one of our programs by mail or in person.

  • Other Information. We also collect information that relates to or is capable of being associated with you, such as passwords, personal preferences and interests, age, gender, and any other information you choose to provide.

INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY.

When using our Services, including on third-party platforms, we, and our service providers operating on our behalf, may automatically collect or receive certain information associated with you or your network device(s), such as your computer or mobile device. This includes information about your use of our Services and your preferences. Such information may be automatically collected through device-based tracking technologies such as cookies, pixels, tags, beacons, scripts, or other technology.
 

The information we automatically collect may also include geolocation information, such as (a) information that identifies the precise location of your mobile device and (b) your IP address, which may be used to estimate your approximate location.

INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA.

If you connect to us through a social media platform or navigate to a social media platform from one of our sites, the social media platform will collect your information separately from us. You should review the social media platforms’ privacy policies to understand how they are using your information and your rights in relation to such information.

We may derive additional information or draw inferences about you based on the information we have collected from you directly, passively, or through third parties.

  • We may use information to perform our contracts with you. If Youth on Root or its affiliates enters into a contract with you, including in instances where you may be a vendor or service provider to Youth on Root, we may use your information to fulfill our contractual obligations.

  • We may use information to improve our Services. We use your information to monitor and improve the operation, delivery, and general accessibility on our Services, identify popular areas or features, and optimize and personalize the Services. This may also include conducting internal research and development of our Services.

  • We may use information to enable you to participate in public platforms or other interactive features of the Services. For example, we may use your information when you post comments on one of our websites.

  • We may use information to maintain the safety and security of our Services. We use your information to protect the rights and property of Youth on Root and others and to comply with our legal obligations, including to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud and other illegal activities and to enforce our agreements.

  • We may use information as otherwise permitted by law. We may use your information to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and as otherwise required by law.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH AND WHY.

We may share information with third parties who perform Services on our behalf. We may share your information with unaffiliated companies or individuals we hire or work with that provide us with professional advice, business support, or perform services on our behalf, including web hosting, information technology, payment processing, event providers, direct mail and email distribution, and analytics services. These Service Providers are allowed to use your information to help us provide our Services and not for any other purpose.


We may share information with our partners. Our partners use the information we give them as described in their privacy policies.


We will share your information if you ask us to. For example, if you ask us to share your information in order for you to participate in an interactive Service that is operated by a third party.


We may share information if we think we have to in order to comply with the law or to protect ourselves. For example, we will share information when it is necessary for us to comply with applicable law or legal process, to respond to legal claims, or to protect our rights or the property or personal safety of our users, employees, or the public.

You have certain choices about how we use your information.


Opt out of receiving our emails. To stop receiving our emails, follow the instructions in any email you get from us. When applicable, you can also change your preferences in your account.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING CHILDREN'S PRIVACY.

Some of our Services are directed to children and are governed by the Youth on Root Children’s Privacy Policy. The Services governed by this Privacy Policy are generally not intended for use by children. In cases where our Services are directed to children, we collect only a limited amount of Personal Information from those channels, as permitted by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Specifically, we may collect IP address, device identifiers, certain unique ID numbers, and limited viewing information. We do not use, or allow our partners to use, this information, other than for purposes of supporting our internal operations, such as to provide children with access to features and activities on the Services, to customize content and improve our Services, or to serve contextual advertising or limit the number of times a particular advertisement is seen.

Youth on Root does not engage in any “sales” of Personal Information of users that it has actual knowledge are minors under the age of sixteen.

"SHINE THE LIGHT" AND "ERASER" LAWS.

Residents of the State of California may request a list of all third parties to which we have disclosed certain information during the preceding year for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes.
 

If you are a California resident under the age of 18, and a registered user of the website where this policy is posted, you may request removal of content or information you have publicly posted. Please be aware that such a request does not ensure complete removal from the Internet of the content or information you posted, and there may be circumstances in which the law does not require or allow removal.
 

For all requests under the “Shine the Light” or “Eraser” Law, please see the “Contact Us” section below. We will accept requests to exercise these rights with a subject line that indicates that you are making a request under the “Eraser” laws and that includes complete and accurate information. We will accept requests to exercise these rights only through this mechanism.

We have adopted commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and physical security procedures to help protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, and alteration. We want you to feel confident using our Services, but we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY POLICY.

Welcome to the Youth on Root Children’s Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy will tell you about the kinds of information that Youth on Root collects from children and how we use it or share it. You will know that this Privacy Policy applies when you visit our website, attend our events, view our content, or contact us (together we call these our "Services") and this Privacy Policy is made available to you. This Privacy Policy is in accordance with applicable global privacy laws, such as the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (also known as COPPA) and outlines our practices regarding information collected from and about children who use our Services. It supplements and is in addition to the Youth on Root General Audience Privacy Policy, which should be read alongside this Privacy Policy. PARENTAL CONTROL AND CHOICES.

By submitting a Posting, you hereby authorize Youth on Root to use, and authorize others to use, your Postings and User Names in whole or in part, on a royalty-free basis, throughout the universe in perpetuity in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, alone, or together or as part of other material of any kind or nature, including without limitation commercial use on and advertising and promotion of the Site. You hereby waive and relinquish any claim based upon "moral rights" (as that term is commonly understood) or any rights of attribution or integrity in connection with content submitted to us hereunder. This license grant, and the above waiver of any applicable moral rights, survives any termination of this license. Without limiting the foregoing, we will have the right to use and change the Postings in any manner, either with or without the User Name, that we may determine. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY CLAIM THAT A SOLE OR EXCLUSIVE REMEDY WHICH IS PROVIDED IN THIS AGREEMENT MAY OR DOES FAIL OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE, YOU SPECIFICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE SHALL BE LIMITED TO HAVING YOUTH ON ROOT, UPON WRITTEN NOTICE FROM YOU TO US, ATTEMPT TO REPAIR, CORRECT, OR REPLACE ANY DEFICIENT GOODS OR SERVICES UNDER THIS AGREEMENT AND, IF REPAIR, CORRECTION, OR REPLACEMENT IS NOT REASONABLY COMMERCIALLY PRACTICABLE FOR YOUTH ON ROOT, TO REFUND ANY MONIES ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO YOUTH ON ROOT FOR THE GOODS OR SERVICES INVOLVED AND TO TERMINATE AND DISCONTINUE YOUR USE OF THE SITE. YOU FURTHER UNDERSTAND AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE CAPACITY OF THE SITE, IN THE AGGREGATE AND FOR EACH USER, IS LIMITED. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold Youth on Root, its affiliates, and any of their successors and assigns, and any of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, licensors, advertisers, suppliers, and operational service providers harmless from and against any and all claims, actions, losses, expenses, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees), resulting from any alleged or actual breach or violation of these Terms of Use by you. Youth on Root reserves the right to assume, at its sole expense, the exclusive defense and control of any such claim or action and all negotiations for settlement or compromise, and you agree to fully cooperate with Youth on Root in the defense of any such claim, action, settlement, or compromise negotiations, as requested by Youth on Root.

TERMINATION OR SUSPENSION OF ACCESS; MODIFICATION TO SITE.

Youth on Root reserves the right to terminate, suspend, or otherwise restrict your use of and access to this Site, or any portion hereof, with or without notice at any time for any reason whatsoever, with or without cause, including, but not limited to, your violation of these Terms of Use or any inappropriate or unlawful behavior on your part.
